Italian Wine: The Best From Europe

by Jason Myers

Europe’s wine countries consist of France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Hungary, and England. Italy used to be known as “Oenotria” by the Greeks, which translate to: the land of wine. Italy creates a lot of wine than any other nation in the world.

Some of the recognized wine-producing regions in Italy are Valle D’Aosta, Lombardy, Veneto, Umbria, and, specially, Tuscany. The very nature of the land that offers the wonderful grapes that are used to make excellent wine is one of beauty and romance. Therefore it stands to reason that the wine-producing regions of the world are additionally the most frequently selected destinations for honeymooners.

Even though Italy makes a lot of wine, that doesn’t tell that it has the wine market cornered …or the honeymoon market, for that matter. The wine made in France is probably the country most known for producing excellent wines. As a matter of fact, when most people think of excellent wine, they think of French wine primarily. France has a long and storied wine-producing past, and French wine has become somewhat of the “gold standard” by which all other wines are judged.

Spain is quickly becoming a wine-producing region to be reckoned with. The wines that are produced in Spain taste fruitier rather than woody. A lot of the accomplishments that Spain is experiencing as a wine making country can be attributed to their fastidious attention to quality.

Germany works hard to turn into a competitor in the industry of wine makers. It has had a hard time earning any respect. Germany is known for beer and attempting into the wine industry has proven to be a hard responsibility. But they are working on the problem and they are making some improvement. There are a lot of excellent wines that are created in Europe, and you absolutely can tell that Europe is wine country.
