Symptoms of Dehydration: 2 Yellow Alerts

by Cindy Soto

There are many dehydration symptoms, but the top 2 are so common, you might ignore them on a regular basis.

You really don’t want to ignore them; here’s why.

1 — The yellow alert. You’ve been busy doing your thing, and you find your urine is a darker yellow.

Are you guilty of this?

Maybe it’s the case more often than not.

2 — You feel thirst. Yes, this is a symptom of dehydration. For best results, don’t wait until you feel thirsty to drink.

If you wait, you’re already down in your need for water. Next, you’ll feel tired unless you address this.

If you want more energy and vitality, start with your drinking habits.

Are you drinking your water today?

Do you spread it out so you are continuously adding water?

How about if I asked if it’s water you’re drinking? Not Coke or coffee or even Gatorade (which has salt), just water?

Some sports drinks contain the electrolytes you need, but also contain a lot of sodium.

Drink water and plenty of it.

Whatever water you like, but you don’t want the toxins and chlorine you’ll find in tap water.

When you are well hydrated, your urine will be clear.

How much water is recommended?

Half your body weight in ounces is the established recommendation.

In other words, a person that weighs 150 pounds would need to drink 75 ounces of water each day.

What’s the reason to even it out throughout the day?

If you’re working out or it’s hot, count on drinking even more. Your body needs to match the water used with more coming in.

It’s best to hydrate even before you begin a workout.

The second reason is the body works hard to maintain a delicate balance.

Drinking a lot at once will flood the cells, not any better than being dry. This causes your body to work much harder.

Another way you work yourself too much is by drinking during a meal.

This takes energy that could be used for other things.

Why does it work harder?

The liquid in the meal dilutes the gastric juices that digest the food.

Digestion is the most energy consuming process you do every day as it is. You don’t want to make it harder.

When you drink throughout the day, it’s not difficult to eat food without the drinks.

Plumbing Practices Can Be Environmentally Friendly

by Brian LeMaire

Homes in the U.S. typically use about 100 gallons of water per day, which is nearly half of the water supplied by water utilities. That’s a lot of water, so making even some of the smallest modifications to your plumbing system can save you some money, and over time you can save significant money. Now, add up the amount of water usage by all the households in the U.S. (which according to the 2007 census is 111,162,259), it’s easy to see how even the smallest change to everyone’s plumbing systems can make a significant impact on the environment.

You can use a water filtering system in your home to purify enough water to fill more than three-thousand disposable plastic water bottles every year. You would save money by not paying the store mark up on bottled water (and you would know for sure where the water was coming from). A by-product of crude oil is used to produce disposable water bottles, every year more than sixteen million barrels of oil are used in the creation of all of the bottles used in the U.S. By reducing the number of bottles we throw away, we reduce our dependence on crude oil.

Greywater or graywater systems collect and filter the water used by faucets, dishwashers, and washing machines. But instead of that water going down the drain, it’s reused for non-drinking water purposes like watering your plants. This kind of recycling also keeps your soil well irrigated by diverting water into it instead of into your local sewage system.

Graywater (or greywater) systems: A safe and easy way to collect and filter the water used by faucets, dishwashers, and washing machines, and reuse it for non-potable (non-drinking water) purposes –cutting back on your home’s water consumption. The system recycles water, to water plants for example, reducing your use of fresh, potable water. It also cuts down the amount of water going into your community’s sewage system instead of the soil.

Leaky faucets: The steady drip of a leaky tap isn’t just annoying, it can really add up. Fixing your leaky faucets is a way to keep water and money from slipping down the drain. The average American household consumes about 90 gallons of water a day. About 12.6 gallons of that is due to faucet, toilet, and pipe leaks. Stopping this ongoing loss is as easy as calling your plumber to fix that chronic leak that you’ve been putting off. A dripping faucet can waste up to 74 gallons a day, a leaking toilet up to 200 gallons a day. Repair a leaky toilet and you can save 73,000 gallons a year.

Leaky pipes: What happens when your leaky pipes are so full of pinhole leaks or can’t be repaired and need to be replaced? A repipe, or pipe replacement, involves cutting open walls and removal of the affected pipes. Not only does this mean you’re throwing away drywall and old pipes, but you’re using new drywall and pipes, each with its own manufacturing toll on the environment.

But by far, the least-expensive, quickest, and best overall changes you can make to your plumbing system are adding low-flow shower heads, toilets, and faucet aerators. It’s possible for these to reduce your home water use by up to fifty-percent. Additionally, by reducing your water usage, you’re reducing the amount of water that you heat -cutting the energy use of your hot water heater by up to half.

Achieve Weight Loss Through A Healthy Diet & Regular Exercise

by Florentina Ryan

Part-2 - Drink at least two to three liters of water daily. Drink plenty of water because runners often get dry mouths as they run plus you want to stay hydrated. The cells in the body need water to function effectively. Drinking other liquids also provides your body with a source of water, but note that diuretics cause your body to expel water by going to the toilet often. Diuretics include caffeinated drinks (coffee, tea and soda) and alcohol.

Stay away from sugary drinks, especially sodas. All those colas and fizzy drinks are filled with plenty of sugar and sugar means calories. The more you avoid these sugary drinks, the better for it is for you. So if you must drink sodas, then stick to diet sodas.

Always make a habit to eat only when you are hungry. A lot of people are tempted to eat when food is in front of them .Party is often use as an excuse to stuff our selves. We should be aware of the effect of a whole week of dieting can be ruined by just enjoying one day’s party food. When someone offers you something to eat do not refuse it completely just break of a nibble or just take a little bit so that you tend to mind your manners and at the same time can watch your diet.

Smoking is bad news for losing weight. Smoking as such may not affect weight loss but smoking leads to many conditions such as erratic eating habits and over dependence on things like coffee.

Go for evening walks around the neighbourhood with a friend, wash your car or maybe even do some gardening instead of watching T.V and just sitting there eating junk food all day, do something exciting that helps you keep fit, healthy and looking good at the same time. Look for opportunities to use your body that focuses on developing good life long food and exercise habits. There is no set time frame for results. Anyone starting a diet should take each step of the program at their own pace. In addition, always choose a nutritionally balanced plan with enough calories to keep you from feeling flat and tired.

Walking is always a good one to start with. We use many muscles while walking. Walking helps cultivate relationships, makes one forget worries, and eases the mind. It aids digestion, stimulates the brain, and helps the blood flow evenly throughout the body. Walking at a moderate pace produces longer workouts with less soreness - leading to more miles and more fat worked off on a regular basis. High intensity walks on alternate days helps condition one’s system. Walking is a great form of exercise. Other exercise options include going to local gyms, public swimming pools, and other exercise classes.
