Holiday Treats: The Oddest Chocolate Cookie Recipe

Every treat called a cookie is not what we would usually view as a cookie. Several are added extras to our cookies that taste very good (like Butterfinger pieces), whereas others formulate the fundamental shape or size of cookies but do not feature the traditional ingredients of a cookie the least bit. An enjoyable chocolate cookie recipe is not really a cookie, but tastes fantastic and is an outstanding substitute for conventional turtle cookies.

For a very tasty recipe, you need only three very simple ingredients that may already be in your kitchen. You simply need to find pretzel twists or rings, chocolate kisses (caramel chocolate work best), and some pecans that are halved.

Start by preheating your oven to at least 300 degrees. Lay your pretzels on a non-greased non-stick cookie sheet in a single layer, as many as you want, up to a full sheet. Then, set a kiss on top of each pretzel.

Bake your concoction only until the chocolate is softened, do not melt the chocolate completely. Take the pan out of your oven and set pecan halves on the top of the cookie.

There are a wide variety of Hershey’s kisses and types of nuts that work well with this recipe, and it is a fun way to create a different type of treat on your holiday goodie platter. Mix and match your favorites, or create new combinations of treats that suit your individual palate.

These are a type of turtle cookies, and one bag of kisses will create about eight cookies give or take. This will really go a long way at a party, but it may be a smart idea to have some backup cookies in case your platter needs a refill during the party. Keep from snacking on the kisses, and you will be good to go.

Christmas Treat Need Not Be Too Pricey

by Rene A Lacape

Making your own tasty cookies with dough you can actually prepare from your own home is one of the ways that can help minimize your spending on treats. Not to worry, the preparation is normally easy enough even to someone who had just started to learn their ways around the kitchen. Should you need those cookies in a hurry and chose to go for ready-made ones available in stores, add in the holiday spirit by trimming the cookies with cheerful holiday-shapes. Trace out one or two patterns that you desire onto wax paper or aluminum foil, then cut those patterns out and start cutting out the cookie dough in shapes according to these patterns.

Serving these cookies at a gathering or reception at your house with hot tea or coffee might give you a little room to work with your creativity. Try using sugar cubes as a sweet decoration ? stack them in a pyramid-fashion, and maybe put tiny colorful marshmallows on toothpicks and place them in the cubes and you?ll get a merry looking outdoor Christmas tree, covered in snow. These cubes can then be used for tea and coffee while the marshmallows can be used for hot cocoa.

It is easier to start with decorating when you know what you own in your previous decoration collections as this will help you fix your attention towards which color and themes you can work with. Knowing how to work with colors will also be useful in decorating, for example, knowing that red and green are among the colors that will brighten up instantly when put together with golden or silvery accent. Concentrate on decorating one single spot if you know that you don?t have a large collection of decorations, such as the corner that places the tree or the fireplace mantelshelf. There are items that you own that you might fail to notice that could help in your decorating, so beware. Something that you dislike ? such as an old Christmas sweater can come in handy ? simply put it on your children?s huge teddy bear and place him in a corner chair, and he might be the hot topic of your guests at your party.

One of the easiest n inexpensive decorations is votive candles. These candles can be placed in a group of three on festive plates, and will give out a warm, gentle glow when lighted and placed on coffee and end tables. Placed in a fishbowl or other festive transparent or colored serving bowls, these floating votives can be a simple addition to your decorating plan. Tie up a bunch of candy canes with Christmas ribbon, and place them in red or green colored drinking glasses will help add on the magic of Christmas. This is perfect as a sweet treat and as a parting gift to your guests once the gathering or open house ended.

But the most important ingredient at your holiday table or gathering is the Christmas spirit. Remember the reason for the season. Your guests will surely feel the same Christmas cheer once they arrive at your home.

Cookie Gift Ideas To Show You Remember

by Anna Mckayla

The aroma of fresh baked cookies brings back many fond memories. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to box up that aroma and send it as a gift? Here are some cookie gift ideas that will allow you to send the aroma with the cookies. The good news is that you will not even have to fire up your own oven.

A jar cookie gift is made by layering all the dry ingredients for a favorite cookie into a glass jar. A one quart jar works very well for this cookie gift idea.

To choose a suitable recipe, you will need to add the total volume of the dry ingredients. Ingredients such as salt, spices or baking soda, which are usually measured in fractions of a teaspoon, can be ignored. You will want to select a recipe with dry ingredients that add up to four cups or one quart.

In addition for visual appeal, you will want the dry ingredients to be of various colors. This gives your cookie jar a look of a sand sculpture. You would not want to choose a recipe with all white ingredients. Oatmeal cookies or chocolate chip cookies are often a great choice for these cookie gift ideas.

Ingredients should be layered carefully into the jar without mixing. You want the differing layers to be visible through the jar. A chopstick can be used to make interesting patterns along the jar by causing valleys and ridges.

Salt and spices can be added at the top of the jar or can even form a very thin layer in the middle of the mix.

Once all the dry ingredients are in the jar, put a new canning lid on the jar. A colorful square of cloth can be placed over the lid and held in place with the canning ring. A coordinating ribbon or raffia can be used to hold a card listing the remaining ingredients that will need to be added and directions for baking.

Since a canning jar is essentially air tight, the dry ingredients will remain fresh for several months. You may wish to make these gifts ahead of time and store in a cool place to send at the appropriate time. These make great gifts to send home with an unexpected guest.

By the way, since all the ingredients are already out on the counter, why not bake up a fresh batch right now. Someone else in the house is sure to enjoy a cookie, and this is the perfect time to try something new or an old family favorite.
