Key Secrets to Online Cake Decorating Classes

Do you ever wish that you could decorate a cake like a pro? Whether you want to bake and decorate the perfect wedding cake or simply give your child a neat, homemade cake for his or her birthday, you can take cake decorating classes and learn how!

Sure, some local retailers offer onsite lessons, but most of the time they are only for one day and what you learn is extremely limited. Plus, you cannot practice your lessons over and over like you can at home.

Online classes are a lot less expensive, and the material is thorough so that you can go back and review numerous times. At an onsite class, you can only practice while you are there with a teacher looking over your shoulder.

Cake decorating classes at a regular culinary school can be quite expensive. Plus, we are all busy these days with work and family obligations. Who wants to take time out every week to drive to a class? With online lessons, you can take them when you want and how often you want.

With online cake decorating classes, you can also learn the specific techniques that you want to learn. This way, you are able to focus on those tasks and skills that interest you.

You can decide to learn one lesson per day, one per week or even one per month! It will be all up to you to decide how much and how fast you want to learn these techniques. Plus, if you make mistakes, you can go back and review as much as you want.

Make sure that the class you choose has a thorough ebook that will walk you through the techniques. You want something that you can refer back to time and time again.

Cake decorating classes can be a very fun and wonderful experience. You will soon become the best baker in your family, and everyone will want you to bake their next birthday cake!

Do you want to take cake decorating classes? Imagine making the coolest birthday cake that your kid has ever seen. Their friends are in awe and jealous. Imagine making a wedding cake that you can sell for $800. All of these techniques can be learned by taking a good online cake decorating class.

If Your Are Thinking of Taking Cake Decorating Lessons, Learn Which Cake Decorating Course Works Best!

Maybe you have been thinking about taking some cake decorating lessons because you love to cook and bake. So many people are addicted to all of these great new TV shows about decorating these fabulous cakes that look so hard to do!

However, before you go to the store and buy that new cake decorating set, you really need to first find the right lessons.

You may remember the first cake you baked with your mother when you were a kid. She might have been really sweet about it, but it was probably pretty ugly, right?

Finding the right cake decorating course is not hard, but you have to know what to look for in the classes. For example, if you decide to take onsite classes, you will have to spend time away from your family while you attend classes.

If you take a class at a location, it may be more costly than taking classes online at your home. Additionally, you will not be able to move at your own pace because there will be other students to consider who may more more quickly than you do. If you fall behind, it will be difficult to catch up.

The perk of taking online cake decorating lessons is that you are able to repeat the lessons over and over until you get it right. You can practice as much as you want and need. This will save you from being embarrassed as many people are in a class situation when they do not understand something.

If, by chance, you are wanting to start your own cake decorating business, an online class is great because you can become an expert at the techniques by practicing them at home. Plus, you will have reference materials for your business!

If this is going to be your hobby, or your new business, you want to find the very best cake decorating lessons that you can afford.

If you want to take cake decorating lessons, then you need to not only learn how to bake the cakes, but you also need the vital supplies. The most necessary supplies to get your started are listed on this website: CAKE DECORATING TOOLS.

Clever Cakes: The Easy Guide To Making Them

by Jenni Snook

At first, you may think that making clever cakes is an easy task, but the fact of the matter is that it requires a lot of hard work. Every time you cook something, it doesn’t just mean that you put them in a pan and stir them, it also means that you have to cut the food, treat the meat and even peel them. The preparation in fact is 50 percent of the whole procedure.

Learning to cook and prepare clever cakes will take some time especially if you’re a beginner. But you don’t have to take the hard road and learn the lesson the hard way. If you want your food in the right way and in the best possible manner, just follow the advice throughout this article.

1. Memorise The Measurements To Make Clever Cakes - Tools for measurement are probably the best things to have apart from recipes when making clever cakes. In fact, they are actually the ones that will give you the desired taste. If you use them well, you will be having great tasting food every time. The measurements that you choose will greatly affect the taste as you shall soon see. Too little salt will make the food bland while too much of it will make the flavour too salty. Too much flour will make the food taste like flour.

It’s important to come up with a good balance of ingredients for your clever cakes in order to create delicious cakes that your whole family can eat. For this very reason, it’s vital that you purchase good quality measuring tools. The tools that you possess or purchase must be ones with standard measurements if you are to add the correct amount of each ingredient. If you use just any teaspoon or coffee cup you can find around the house, you will probably not be using the right measurements. Remember that the taste of your dish will depend on the precision of your measurements.

2. It’s A Very Clever Idea To Follow The Time Indicated When Cooking Cakes - After you have measured the ingredients well, make sure that you are following the instructions in the recipe to the letter. Pay close attention to the time that is often indicated in the recipes. If it says 15 minutes, then let it simmer for 15 minutes. No more, no less. Under no circumstances, should you stop or modify a recipe, unless you are a professional chef. Keep in mind that the times indicated have been chosen for a reason.

If you want to be clever and make a cake following a procedure word for word, then it is a wise idea to use a timer. A good timer is one that sounds after a certain number of minutes. If you are unable to get hold of a timer, then a clock is fine especially if it comes with an alarm. Apart from that, you can put your memory to use.

3. It’s Essential That You Use The Correct Ingredients When Making Clever Cakes - Never ever substitute one ingredient for another in the beginning. This will only complicate the process and also the taste. Although the ingredients may seem the same, the end result may not be as each gives different texture and taste. For instance, substituting one part of a beef, for instance a sirloin to a shank, to another is not a good idea. They may be both beef but sirloins are a lot leaner as compared to the shank which may have fats in between the meat. The oil from these fats may interfere with your flavouring.

The above instructions provide a great base to cooking clever cakes for everyone and the good news is that after some practice and experience, you can start experimenting and have even more fun!

Apple Cake

by Charlie Reese

Apple Cake

That is why I love to bake apple cake for special occasions. It keeps things fresh, and fresh is what I’m all about. The great thing about apple cakes is that they are a little bit unexpected. Usually, if you want to surprise people you have to do something pretty exotic. Apples, however, are about as far from exotic as you can get. Yet even putting them in something as simple as a white cake can create a novel effect. They make it moister, richer, and more delicious.

One of my favorite wrinkles is apple coffee cake. Coffee cake by itself is a little bit too heavy in my opinion. The taste is too strong. I like coffee as a flavoring, but I feel like it needs a little something else. With apples, the coffee acts as more of a spice than a dominant flavor. I use only a little bit of coffee and let the apples take over most of the taste. Sometimes I even add a little bit of vanilla, cinnamon, and cardamom if I am feeling adventurous.

Another of my favorites is apple crumble cake. I can not resist anything with sugar crusted on top, and this type of apple cake delivers abundant crusted sugar. The key is to make the crust perfect. You want just enough brown sugar and you need to have it caramelized to just the right degree. If it is too crunchy, it gets a little bit chewy. If it isn’t caramelized enough, it doesn’t have the nice crispy flavor that makes this cake so good. It definitely takes a little bit of trial and error to get it just right, but it is worth the effort. The results are to die for.

Of course, sometimes a fluffier apple cake is good. I sort of like to blur the distinctions between cakes, pies and tarts. Sometimes having a layer of apple slivers whipped into cream on top of the cake is absolutely delicious. You can even make apple meringue if you’re feeling adventurous.

Birthday Foods for Everyone

by Charlie Reese

The secrets of excellent birthday foods

When your birthday rolls around, one of the treats you look forward to is the birthday food. What you long for are your favorite foods. Birthday food should consist of all of your favorites, perhaps a motley crew of dishes that no one else would ever put together in a single menu. Nonetheless, this menu of disparate dishes might be your idea of food heaven.

Let’s see what your menu might look like. Let’s start with an appetizer of crab cakes. Yum. Now, let’s move on to a Caesar salad, with the finest, freshly grated Parmesan and a healthy dose of garlic croutons. Now what? New England clam chowder sounds good. Oh, there’s got to be a bucket of steamed clams, with several slices of French bread to dip in the broth. Are we full yet? Nope. This might take all day, though. OK. On to some entrees. The possibilities are many. A nice wild salmon filet, doused with Hollandaise. Shrimp scampi? Southern fried chicken, or a New York steak? Where do I have room to fit all these indulgences?

Obviously, this list of birthday food favorites cannot be consumed in one sitting. You need to narrow the menu, unless you want to make a birthday week of birthday food menus. Which isn’t a bad idea!

In our family, there was a tradition on each family member’s birthday food. The person celebrating their birthday could request their favorite foods and that’s what was served, no matter how weird the combination might be. This tradition made for some interesting menus, but the guest of honor was certainly satisfied!

When I grew up and had my own family, I continued this tradition, much to everyone’s delight. In fact, we finally decided to expand on this tradition. First, there was the actual birthday, with everyone’s favorite birthday food. Then, we instituted ‘birthday week’, with an entire week devoted to manageable amounts of birthday food favorites which could be consumed with relish, without unbuttoning pants or changing into a large, loose robe! Our tradition finally evolved into birthday month! While we weren’t stuffing ourselves silly every day, each day we serve some special treat, perhaps not extravagant, just well-loved.

For example, my daughter is wild for all things hot and spicy. She consumes chili peppers like there’s no tomorrow. Stuffed green peppers, well laced with Tabasco sauce, are one of her favorites. Last year, I introduced her to Kim Chee, a pickled cabbage hot enough to make your eyes water. A cayenne-based marinade, paired with catfish nuggets, makes her eyes roll with delight. Freshly baked chocolate chip cookies are another winner. During birthday month, I make a big batch ” a gallon ” of Louisiana gumbo, hot enough to make you sweat profusely. She eats it straight, while my husband and I must tone it down with the traditional bowl of rice. This is her birthday food heaven.

My husband enjoys nothing more than a platter of Southern fried chicken. Blackened catfish is another favorite. Au Gratin potatoes, a shrimp cocktail appetizer and a piece of German chocolate cake makes his day.

For myself, I’ve never met a fish I didn’t like! As for desserts, lemon meringue and fresh strawberry pie make my birthday complete. I’m also a chocoholic. Cashews and macadamia nuts never hurt.

In short, birthday menus should consist of whatever turns you on. Institutionalize your own birthday food family tradition. It’s a lot of fun!
