the costs associated with the Jenny Craig diet depend on the option you select. There are short-term plans and there are long-term plans. Jenny Craig makes it interesting client: that users of its diet plan spend only one more dollar per day on food than the average American not participating in the diet plan.

I spoke to a Jenny Craig representative on September 28, 2008 and was provided with information about the program’s costs. The first option described by the representative is the 20 pounds for $20 program. This is a 10 week program that includes weekly meeting expenses with a weight loss consultant but does not include meals.

Meals cost between $12 and $18 per day. This includes three meals, dessert, snacks and vitamin bars. Meals consist of frozen entrees that are developed by Jenny Craig through years of research. Most people find them tasty, filling and quite serviceable. At the end of 10 weeks if you haven’t reached your weight loss goals you can sign up for additional meal plans but you may incur an additional cost.

Barbara also described a second option, but Jenny Craig rewards plan. This plan is a one-year program. It costs $359 per year in addition to your food costs. For this price you will receive weekly meetings with a weight-loss professional and a discount on meals. The discount works as follows during the first 10 weeks you receive a 10% discount on meals, in the next 10 weeks you receive 20% discount, finally in the last 32 weeks he received a whopping 35% discount on meals.

According to our Jenny Craig representative, Barbara, the discount really adds up. In fact, she says that you more than make up for the $359 fee.
