Benefits Of Ultraviolet Water Purification Filters

by Chris Channing

Ultraviolet rays have been associated with many beneficial side effects from exposure. Such rays have been proven to kill many types of bacteria and viruses that circulate and cause sicknesses and disease. If one is to truly purify their water, ultraviolet light is a sure way to go.

The basics of ultraviolet lights are easy enough to understand. Ultraviolet light rays seek to disrupt the DNA in small organisms enough to make them completely sterile, which means they will not be able to reproduce. If bacteria or viruses can’t create offspring, they are essentially rendered helpless and are no longer considered a threat. Thus, UV rays can help clean out drinking water that would otherwise be contaminated.

Ultraviolet rays require a special type of light bulb in order to function- although these light bulbs are considered to be very energy efficient in design. It is also beneficial to consumers that the light only needs to be replaced on an annual basis on average- meaning constant upkeep of the ultraviolet light filter is not an issue.

In comparison to the alternatives, ultraviolet light is a very wise choice when looking to eliminate bacteria and viruses from drinking water. Chlorine is another alternative, although it leaves a foul odor and taste in the drinking water, and has also been linked to certain types of cancer. Ultraviolet light filters, on the other hand, do not have any harmful side effects and do not have an impact on the taste of the drinking water.

Ultraviolet light filters aren’t always seen as an everyday household item. But for those who live in areas where there is poor water filtration, the product is almost a necessity. Others who are prone to illness and live in areas where water filtration is excellent may still want to give the product a try. Some types of illnesses that reduce the effectiveness of one’s immune system can see remarkable results with usage of ultraviolet filters.

Consumers will also be glad to know that ultraviolet light filtration systems do not require any special construction or deconstruction plans to implement. In fact, most filters are easy enough to implement by one’s self and a small set of tools. Compared to the alternatives that require professional installation, UV filters are the better choice for consumers.

What consumer should note about ultraviolet filters is that they don’t remove chemicals or heavy metals from drinking water. This will often require the need of another filter in order to accomplish total purification of one’s drinking water. Some model types of ultraviolet filters allow consumers to buy products that incorporate both types of filtration- which essentially creates a single filter that is responsible for all common types of filtration.

The ultraviolet light purification filter is indeed a great buy for consumers. It lasts a long time, helps improve the cleanliness of one’s home and family, and has a very low running cost. For the benefit it gives, the UV light purification system is a sure buy for any consumer wary about their family’s health.

Cooking with millet

Millet can be used to thicken soups, or cooked in milk to make a breakfast cereal or added to breads and teabreads to boost their texture and flavor. While it is not a gourmet ingredient, millet can be tasty and is a good source of proteins as well as carbohydrates. Since Roman times at least, millet has been widely grown in North Africa, Asia and the Mediterranean countries. It is an important food for many of the world’s poor, and is often fermented to make beers. The dried grains are tiny, about the size of a pinhead, and colored pale yellow with a darker brown spot on one side. They swell considerably during cooking so it is important not to add too much to dishes such as soups. Millet flakes cook faster than the whole grains and are also used to thicken soups. Unless whole millet grains are cooked in plenty of liquid, they should be presoaked before cooking. ** Asian Recipes ** Read more…

Chili Chicken Casserole

I don’t know exactly where I got this recipe but I do know that we all love it and it is so easy to prepare. Even my picky eaters love it! I have shared it with all of my sisters and their families love it too. I hope you like it as much as we all do! The cooking time is 30 minutes but there is also the time for cooking the rice ahead of time as well as cooking the chicken. You can do that the day before if you prefer and that makes it go faster. — posted by Chef #842751 Full recipe…
